The Virginian Center

The Virginian Center, Winthrop, WA

The Virginian Center is a facility for autistic children in Winthrop, WA. Located in the North Cascades, the existing Virginian Motel & Restaurant is to be remodeled, with the addition of a residence building, entry vestibule, and covered walkways. The existing restaurant will be remodeled to become a staff lounge as well as a kitchen and cafeteria. An existing barn/museum will become classrooms and a gymnasium, and an existing home on the site will become the administrative center. Existing motel units will be refurbished to become housing for staff as well as visiting parents. The design will pick up the existing old west and mountain cabin inspired style of the motel, while updating the amenities to make a modern & dynamic environment to house & teach children with autism.
