The existing home was 40 years old, dark, and dated, but had great sweeping view of the sound. Stretched across the edge of a bluff, the remodeled home captures multiple views of Puget Sound and the Olympic mountains. The design created “sun zones” – from a glassed-in easterly facing breakfast room to huge skylights near the bedrooms. A music area, art-display spaces, and an indoor greenhouse were incorporated in the planning to accommodate the clients’ piano, a large art collection, and a workshop for a collection of bonsai. Thinking toward the future, the home was designed to be handicap accessible.
